UK Status Resident. Widespread and very common throughout the British Isles. Montgomeryshire Status Found at a few sites, mainly in the north of the county Wingspan : M & F, 9-10mm. Confusion species None. |

(Univoltine)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Birch. Lifestage data Bud/stem miner. Eggs laid on the foodplant. Larva feed in the stem, bud or a catkin where it also overwinters. Pupates in a cocoon on the trunk after leaving its overwintering site. |
